RE: Wanted: Single Screw, Sedan on Mississippi in MN, WI or IA

Welcome Aboard and Good Luck in your search. I am located at Mile 490. Upper Mississippi. I bought my boat a year ago in Nashville, and ran it up river in June. There are not many trawlers on the river, In my area (the Quad Cities) there aren't more 10 in a metro area of 400,000 divided by the river. I have seen more in the Twin Cities, but not that many there either. You can get to the T.C.'s from Duluth by water though (ha, probably 1500 miles) I have seen several there. There are a lot of good values to be had, if your willing to travel.

Hey Craig,

Sounds like a great trip (& beautiful boat)! I'm going to take my time & hope something local comes along...

I took a look at the Gulfstar below but the restoration would be too much & she's an aft. If only it was a Grand Banks... I'd like to salvage the engine though.

We have a place at MM 645 so let me know when you're headed North!

Yes, Harpers Ferry. We get down there as much as possible... Looking forward to making the trip on the water some day!

Cap'n Craig has a good idea. *Why don't you buy a boat on the Tennessee or Cumberland River, and have a delightful trip home. *Woodsong (Tony) is a yacht broker on the river. *He would be glad to assist you. *Many people on the forum have cruised these waters. *You won't be disappointed.

Don,

I've had the bug since honeymooning/bareboating (& fixing) on the intracoastal on a Grand Banks...
For my starter she needs to be relatively close & cheap! Maybe in (15) years when the (4) kids are older I'll be dreaming bigger & enjoying those long trips again...

Congratulations. Do plan to to keep her at Harpers Ferry? If you ever head south, look me up. Mile 487. Isle of Capri marina, about 5 miles south of L&D 14. We do need pictures though.
