1985 40ft Heritage East for sale.
We decided to put Blue Heron on the Market. She is listed with our fellow member DaddyO
(Mark @ Grace Yachting Group). To see more about her take a look at:

It's been very fun and I have enjoyed the forum.

Best of luck on the sale. It would be hard to beat the space per dollar on those Herritage sun-deck models.

I have read and enjoyed your blogs over the past couple of years. I am just getting into cruising so would appreciate some input. Are you staying in cruising and moving up? Taking a break? Moving on to other things?

Woodsea,
Thanks for the kind words. My reasoning is that at the time of purchase I was planning on moving aboard because the 3000+ square foot house was simply too much.
My wife can't adapt to the sea legs required and medicine isn't fixing it.
Our compromise was a condo on the water and now that makes the trawler a redundancy as far as living on the water. I still have the desire to cruise the Bahamas and beyond but for now and with a son still at home, I will be content to downsize further. I intend to get a smaller boat and still be solar powered. I learned so much about the process, I am well positioned when the time comes to pursue it again.

Lovely boat. Tell you what Heron…if I lived in the US, I'd be saying' sold…to me…but sadly I'm not. I have always admired those as the mostest boat for the size you could get, yet still look right…if only…
That boat here in Aus would go for about $130 - 150k, even now…sorry…

Thanks. I agree. Lots of boat. She will make a fine vessel for the right captain and crew.

She's under contact. Survey and sea trials today.
It's been a fun ride.

Roger,
Yes. Boat was priced fairly, buyer is intelligent and educated and a former liveaboard. It was a win win and I represented the boat honestly.
Survey results later today.
It is bittersweet but she's going to a great couple who will use her more than we were.
