You purchase the boathouse just like you would a piece of real estate. The boathouse has a parcel number and is transferred to the buyers name. Just like real estate you don't pay sales tax. If you were to purchase the boathouse you have a couple options -

1) You can move the boathouse wherever you want and not have to become a member of Tacoma Yacht Club or pay any moorage fees.

2) Should you decide to keep the boathouse in the TYC basin you must become an active member and pay moorage to the cub. Membership costs a one-time fee of $2,000 and a monthly fee of $121.88. You also pay moorage the club of $0.47 per square foot ($355.42 for this 18X42 boathouse) So the total per month is $477.30.

The TYC basin is a great place to keep your boat. Its extremely protected and a great location to set off for your cruising. The docks are very nice and there is guarded entrance to keep things protected. There are also a lot of benefits to membership.
