My boat went through Hurricane Irma and survived, sort of, but the cosmetic repairs, if done by a yard, neared too close to my policy limits, and thus, GEICO (BoatUS) totaled the boat. For someone who has the time to manage the repairs or do a lot of work themselves, this is going to be a steal! My boat goes up for auction tomorrow, March 24. Here is the link:
USauctions.com - Item Description: #10364: 1980 58.3' Hatteras Motor Yacht (Hurricane Irma)
I have nothing to gain from this sale as I have been paid for the loss. I would like to help get her out there to be seen by someone who might want to buy her and bring her back to her glory. I’m sure ANY offer will be entertained as GEICO is not interested in keeping this boat or paying for storage.
I loved this boat to the very depths of her soul. She floats and runs. Her running gear and underside were undamaged. It’s mostly dock rash and paint, and a few other things such as polishing fuel, replacing 32v fresh water pump, replacing some flooring that got wet where rain blew in through slider windows, etc. I poured my heart and soul into this boat for 12 years. She has a kick-ass galley, that is relatively new, that any foodie would appreciate (that would be me!) - induction cooktop, dishwasher, quietest garbage disposal, large sink, European convection oven, new cabinetry, corian countertops, etc. I spared no expense in refitting the galley a few years ago - that was my “place” on the boat.
I didn’t have the time to start over and would have had to rely on a yard to fix it completely which was cost prohibitive. She has four staterooms, four heads, washer/dryer, newer AC, genny with less than 2,000 hours, some new mattresses that had not even been slept on, engines painted a month for the storm, etc. Located in Miami, FL. For whomever buys her, I would be happy to answer questions along the way to recovery. Nobody knows that boat better than me....every inch of her. I was a very hands-on owner, not just an “admiral” or galley wench.
