Can you mount the transducer on to a steel hull?

I believe it is intended to be a transom mounted transducer. The heavy plastic bracket would attached to your transom. The transducer attaches to the bracket. The transducer would not be in contact with your hull. The bracket articulates for fine adjustment.

I suspect this is mounted above waterline?

Transducers operate in the water. The mounting is at about the waterline.
If you are asking can you install the transducer while your boat is in the water, the answer is yes. No through-hull holes are required.

If that is your aim, I'd have my bottom-cleaning diver drill the four 1/8" holes for the bracket mounting screws, put some 4200 on the screws and screw it in. My diver would charge about $50 to do that when he was here doing a cleaning. The holes are not through the hull, just ~1/2" deep to mount the bracket.

Now $600

In a PM, I was asked if I would split the system and sell parts separately.

I will sell the NSE12+LSS1 (sonar black box) for $550.

I will sell the brand new (purchased Sep19, never been installed) TotalScan Transducer for $125.

Buy it all for $600.

Buyer pays S&H (or pick up in St Pete, FL); seller pays the PayPal transaction fee.

Includes Simrad cable for audio and 0183 data sharing. I had this interfaced to my 0183 autopilot and 0183 VHF – worked great. The NSE12 has a NMEA2000 port, as well.
