You can take them apart and rebuild them. I doubt if a junker's swim platform will be better than yours.

Swim platform

My platform is a 1979 and has been abused for many years. I bought this boat a year ago and now wish to replace what is an unacceptable platform. Perhaps I will have to build a new one, but I wintered in the keys and there were a number of sunk 42 GBs that were being offered as wrecks. I only need one.

If you can't find a used swim platform and you end up looking for a new one, talk to these guys at Butler Marine. They do an outstanding job.

Thanks, I will build it myself. I am trying to find the balance between an original platform and what my time and materials are worth. There are some sunk GBs in Florida that are for sale for 10 to 20k but the engines were not pickled, etc...at some point these owners may realize the boats have more value as parts. At that point it would be financially smarter to by used instead of building new.
