Just had an actuator go and it was replaced under warranty.
The boat is only 5 months old and I have to pay for the haul out to replace it.
Is this standard?

Just completed 1000 miles and we are loving the boat.

What brand? Electric or Hydraulic?

The electric units like Lenco are electric motors in the actuator and underwater most of the time. These units count of shaft and wire seals to keep water out.

Hydraulic units like Bennett have only one moving part in the actuator, the electrical components of the system are in the boat.

I know it hurts to pay for a haul to replace a failed unit, but here in the States we would arrange a "short haul" where they haul you right before lunch, leave you in the slings, and launch after lunch. Usually enough time for this type replacement
