Larger holding tank

We have had our BST44 2014 about 4 months. Brought it up to Charleston in March. We love the boat. We get glowing reviews from neighbors on the dock. The one thing we wish we could do is to exchange the holding tanking with a larger one. 32 gals seems to fill up fast, particularly if at anchor and a few guest on board. Has anyone found a solution to replace with larger tank.

We added a Raritan Hold n Treat system to our 34 gallon holding tank. We only need to use the pump out when having extended stays in no discharge areas, which are few and far between in our cruising area. Would probably work well in Charleston.

There are tons (boat loads) of new & used tanks out there. Peggy is the resident Head Mistress and can/will comment on the different materials you should and should not have a holding tank be constructed. Do you even have space for more tankage? Could you install a secondary tank that you can manually switch to when you need it? If so, you will need to remember to plumb in a pumpout fitting and vents to the outside. That said... we had 30 on out previous boat and it was fine. We pumped out often and out marina offers boat-side pumpouts for $5.

Check out Ronco tanks. Very good quality and they have hundreds of designs. They will locate the fittings wherever you need them. No affiliation just a happy customer.

Hi Catfan...IMO replacing the tank with a larger one would be a last resort..but if it comes down to that, Ronco Plastics Ronco Plastics marine Tanks would be your best source.

Maybe all you need to do is use less flush water. How to do that depends on the make/model age of your toilet and whether that's doable with it, or whether a new toilet may be the answer (and make any sense).

The Raritan Hold 'n' Treat system is another possiblity...legal in your waters and almost all water south of you. Since you already have a holding tank, the treatment device--I recommend the Raritan PuraSan instead of their ElectroScan--Raritan PuraSan Promo Sheet and the controls holdntreat controls are all you'd need.

So...what is the make/model/approx age of your toilet? Sea water flush or pressurized fresh water? If pressurized fresh water, you'd be able to replace the flush button with one that has 3 options--bring water in ahead of use, dry flush and full flush. It could increase the number of flushes your tank can hold by up to 50%.
