Volvo KAMD 42's 230 hp

I have read some very mixed reviews of this engine.....sounds like it might be one to avoid when considering a particular boat. All sorts of issues besides the cost of parts?
Anyone have first hand experience?.....what is the talk on the dock?
Comments...thoughts?

VOLVO has the worst customer service in the industry. They do not support engines that are no longer bein' manufactured. Go to Boatdiesel.com for comments on those engines.
