Mainship 34 motor swap

I built a system that worked very well for my DIY operation. Not that it's likely, but if anyone local (SW Ontario Canada) wants the whole rig it's yours for the taking. Motor cradle sized to go through the door, rollers, and frame. Can easily be thrown in a hatchback.

Some pics from dropping in the new motor.

Good to see someone applying their ingenuity instead of leaning on the yard monkeys for the challenging parts of the work.
They would probably have chopped a hole in the roof!
So what was the original motor, and why did it get replaced?

Previous was a 6bt. I was going to have it rebuilt but found a 6bta of the same vintage that has never been installed. Easy swap, as I am keeping all the running gear and instrumentation pretty much unchanged. Boat splashes tomorrow morning.

Edit: I started a thread last fall that explained my motor issues. I'm sure there's a way to link to it but I don't know how.

"They would probably have chopped a hole in the roof!"

With a well designed boat the roof hatch would already be framed in.

Working Lobster boats can do an engine change overnight , as many will have a spare engine standing by.
