For me, I stared in the mirror and remembered what I bought the boat for and my intended use.

Even if I stretched my cruising grounds, few require more than 300 gallons.

I could carry a bit more separately, but before I started going that far, I would probably pull and rebuild/replace the engine and add enough systems that the engineroom would need another remodeling. At that point with the engine out, I would reconsider.

Reality, I would probably go to a motorsailing if cruising that far.
