I have an old marine trader with a stern tube with the stuffing box threaded to the end and fastened to a crossmember* There is only a small section of shaft exposed* Is it possible to install a ssi type dripless system to this boat?

I would think so! We changed our 1978 58 ft Roughwater to a drippless. Big metal through shaft would have to be replaced. There has been a couple of past discussion as there are pro's and con's. The one big advantage is when our boat sites the bilge is bone dry, and when running the bilge does get a little wet but not much.
