So, my literature I have for my 500fg pointed to the RK 11-1669 T-Handle gauge as an accessory for my Racor. Finding a deal, I took the plunge only to find out that this gauge WILL NOT work with the 500FG Turbine and only works for the 900 and 1000 series (threads are too long for the 500FG). Has anyone else successfully used this gauge on their 500FG? What did you do?

I have sent an e-mail to Parker/Racor to get advice and an explanation from them.

We have Racor 500s on our boat and both of them are fitted with Racor vacuum guages in place of the T-handles. I don't know the part number but they were installed by our diesel shop at the same time they installed the Racors.

The older 500 series does not work with the Racor vacuum gauge but I do believe the newer filter housings will work. I don't know if Racor has fixed this problem. SailorsSolution sells the fitting for the housing, LED lighting, soundproof, Sailor's Solutions Inc. ,and you can use other gauges beside Racor's expensive units. Chuck

Thanks for the link Chuck. That is exactly what the issue is and this looks like a solution. I'm still going to wait for the response from Parker before I proceed.

Wish I would have found that before I bought the Racor part. Hopefully this will help someone else doing a search on this site. Thanks.

You might check Seaboard Marine for their apin on filter system. Cleaner, easier to change and they have gage system available. After trying to change my Racor in the Gulf of Mexico I gave up on the Racors. I have one tank that was cleaning itself out and knew it would be a future problem.

I bought the gauges I use from Fuel fixer. They fit 500,900 and Racor 1000. Easy to install and no question of when to change the filter.

Official response from Parker:

You have to cut 2 or 3 threads off the fitting to make it work. The fitting that threads into the center tube.
