Should the propeller push up against the cutlass bearing support or how much clearance should be between the prop and the bearing support. I found a comment that it should not be two inches or more. Thanks, J.T. Duncan, 77, 40' MT, sedan.

The clearance figure I've seen/heard is 1 to 1.5 shaft diameters Max. Too much shaft overhang can cause excessive bearing wear and wobble.
However, the prop hub should not touch the bearing or even be really close. There needs to be some clearance for the water flow through that lubricates the bearing.

Thanks, now to getting the engine/trans aligned to the shaft, J.T. Duncan 40' M/T sedan.
