I have a Perkins 6.354 and want to change replace my coolant cap. Are they specific to Perkins or can I replace with automotive one with same pressure reading. If I knew the pressure reading,

I replaced mine with automotive caps after checking with my Perkins mechanic, Brian, at British Marine. I think the Perkins is 7PSI and the automotive are 13PSI (or vice versa) but he claimed that it would not be a problem.
So far, it has not been an issue.
