Just installed a set of rubber cones under the supports on my genny. "After" I completely finished the job I read in the specs that there is a front and rear set for the mounts. I didn't know that, all four mounts looked the same. Is there any numbers or marking on the rubber cones that I can look for to see if there's any difference. It's much to big of a job to redo if I bought all four of the same cones. Thanks.:banghead:
BTW, it's a 7.5k MDJE Onan

Ask Onan.

It may just be they sell them in pairs. Or there maybe a difference in the hardness of the rubber between the two sets.

Where did you get the mounts? Did they all have the same part number?

Mounts can look the same but have different stiffness, aka durometer. Front mts vs rear mounts may have different load depending on where the CG is and mount spacing.

If all four have the same part number, no point in moving them around.

It might not make that much of a difference. If it runs fine and the nasty vibes that thing makes are not getting into the boat, mounts are "good enough".

Stiffer-harder mounts go under the heavier end which is the gen armature side.

They do have a differing number although you can likely squeeze them yourself and tell them apart. It would make sense a higher imprinted number means a harder rubber.

I have rebuilt 2 Onan gens, and I recall I could tell them apart by feel.
