Need a replacement diesel generator

Hi All,

After probably 35 + years, my genset is toast. I have checked, Craigslist, eBay and a local marine classified (Log) for a replacement.

I have called Westerbeke and Northern Lights and both said to call their local distributor. For a 5-5.5 kw gen is running about $7,500 - $8,000 base price. Add a few features, installation and of course retro fitting, I will be close to $11,000 - $12,000.

Any sources of used and or rebuilt diesel generators out there?

Thanks,

Chris

Check with Norpro, Phasor and Nextgen. Gens rare used, they come out because someone got sick of problems. Good ones don't come out of boats.

They are on the other side of the country from you, but Gold Coast Power in Ft Lauderdale usually has a large selection.

Used Diesel Engines | Detroit Diesel | Caterpillar

I'd imagine there has to be something similar in SoCal.

Ski makes a good point , though they can get pulled in nice condition because the owner wants to up their capacity.

Just remembered this guy on the Hatteras forum. 1800 hours is just getting started, not sure why he pulled it.

Good luck with that I just went through the same with my westerbeke 8.0

I bought a rebuilt power head from broward armature 1300

I moved the motor had it rebuilt for 1790

I hired some labor help for the heavy lifting in and out $965 bucks

Broward Armature was great to work with

the block I brought to a automotive machine shop for the rebuild
