Need help to ID this fuel shutoff solenoid
This is from a friends Koehler gen set, if anyone can tell me where he might be able to find a new one I'ld appreciate the help. So far Koehler dealer in St. Louis, Mo. and TAD haven't been able to help, he hasn't spoken with Marcus at TAD yet because he is gone this week. If we can't find a replacement I'am sure we can make up a way to operate it manually but would like to fix it correctly if possible.

If it's a Perkins part and you have it's number, give Rich Kuhn a call at Hercules Engine Components - 800-345-0662 ext 101. Good guy to work with, they ship anywhere.

Probably a Kohler part. If you can't find it, making a bracket for a commonly available solenoid may be the best bet.
Have you taken it apart? Sometimes the breaker points are what need attention.

What makes you think it's a Perkins solenoid, River Cruiser?

I don't know that it is. It was either sourced by Perkins or Koehler when built, it's not a problem to rig something up that'll work. There is no name or part number on it, nothing to determine who manufactured it, I've never seen one like it on any diesels I've worked on. The owner just prefers to replace with same if available and I thought maybe some of the perkins owners on here may have experience with this type.

I think adapting a plunger style will only require a modified mounting bracket. My choice is a manual pull / push cable with ability to lock in either position.

If it is a genset (Kohler) you want the electric shutdown to trip on overheat/low oil etc.

Ski this one has no safety warning alarms or shutdown system at all. No temp gauge and oil pressure gauge is screwed into the block. The owner may get around to adding that at some point.

Are you sure? Auto shutdown is a feature on all gennies I know of. Oil pressure switch and coolant temp switch might be located elsewhere.
Is this that old beast 4-107 with rotor starter? Out of the dark ages....

I don't think it's that old we think it's about 1970 - 1971. The only wires going to it are the AC power from the gen end and 2 wires from the key start switch, 1-to starter relay and 1-to the fuel on/off solenoid and the +&- from the battery. That is all that's involved, it has no coolant or oil pressure sending units mounted anywhere, it's old school but I don't think it's dark ages.
