I have a pair of 350 Mercruisers in my 35 ft Carver. Checking out the stbd engine and noticed a loose wire, or tube which had been connected to a sensor low down on the sump. It looked like the connevtor on the end had broken. Looking into it it appears to be the "knock" sensor, but I wasn't able to connect it back. I ran the boat afterwards and it seemed to run ok. But am I doing any damage and what is the imprtance of the knock sensor. How is it connected? Any information would be helpful. Thanks all
