loose wire

On the front of my Yanmar 6LY 3 STP 440 hp engine there is I believe a oil cooler for my HURTH ZF transmission. It has 3 wires going to it 1 to a (in) connection and 1 to a (out) connection the other one is sloppily tape off.Can anyone tell me where the tape off one should go. Tom
