Mine is "Students Manual Grey Marine Engines" 3rd edition.

First printed December 1942

Very very detailed for every procedure.

The biggest change is for oil change intervals.

In 1942 it was every 50 hours , today we run 150 hours and the oil samples very well.

See if your engine is the older style system that uses a bypass oil filter or a more modern full flow.

The full flow can be swopped to a spin on with a DD adapter.

The bypass should have a bypass style filter from a better mfg.

The last line in the manual's description reads
"This manual covers operation, Maintenance, parts and prices."

Reading those old prices (if they are the originals) is bound to make you cry!

You can join boatdiesel.com and see if they have them there. I don't have the time to look right now. But if you are inclined to finding a manual for a particular type of engine, then you should be inclined to join that website. I don't know how active the 671 DD section is but I would imagine it being active since that is likely the most popular Diesel engine in the world. There's a lotta smart fellas over there!

Looks like a later book , but should be fine.

A current 2013 DD manual from DD expects the reader to be a mechanic and probably to have taken a course with DD.

The WWII books expects the reader to be a 18 year old kid with no experience.

Works for me!
