How flush cooling system in Perkins 4-236

My port engine is running hotter than normal. It takes it a while to get there, but get there it does. Sufficient water seems to be coming out of the exhaust, so my thought is that perhaps the internal coolant needs to be flushed and new coolant put in.

I don't know how to go about flushing the system, though. If anyone has experience with flushing the cooling system on a Perkins 4-236 I sure would love to get your advice.

I doubt if the problem is with your coolant (antifreeze) system. Overheating is typically due to fouling in the raw water system. I wrote an article on acid flushing which is in the Library/Misc section. Click on the link in the upper right of this page.

I did not want to pull my water pump impeller to run Barnacle Buster through the engine. So I used my Sea Flush tool that I use for winterizing my engines. Used it to suck the BB into the engine and let it sit for the recommended time, maybe 6 or 7 hours, and then started the engines to flush the BB out. After when I ran the engines one dropped 5 degrees and the other engine dropped 10 degrees. Very simple process, took about 5 minutes per engine to put the BB in and then just run the engines.
