any guess on fuel consumption on twin volvo B30's in a 28' tri hull fiberglass houseboat?

What is a B30? Not familiar with it. Can you give the displacement, hp etc? Diesel? Gasoline? How fast do you run the boat? How much does it weigh?

B30 is the name of these engines when mounted in a car. Marine version is called aq170, its a 3.0 litre straight six-cylinder with two carbs.

Seriously, nobody can tell you what the fuel burn will be. It depends on the boat and it depends on the speed you run. Run at hull speed and you'll get about the best economy possible. Run at wide open throttle and you'll get the worst.

If the fuel cost is going to be a big issue with you, you might want to reconsider boating as a hobby unless you just keep the boat in a slip and use it for a second home.
