In anticipation of requiring a bit of engine sound proofing I approached a local plumbing supply shop for availability of sheet lead. They had it in 3/16 at $4.something a pound. With the measurement given the cost approached in excess of $450.00. As the engine space is not 100% contained it was an attempt at containment. Following I visited NAPA and purchased a roll of Thermo Guard. A mix of aluminum and fiberglass appearing product advertised to address heat and sound. Were there any trawler owners who are familiar with this product or a similar material?

Soundown 2 inch thick faced material with 2 lb sq ft lead..

Mount on standoffs (OTS) works best , but not cheap.

Let us know how it goes Al, sounds much more affordable than Sound Down.

Forklift- Will do. With enough space it is planed to double the layer in the space allocated after the engine swap is completed. Should be in the next week or so.

Thanks to the suggestion of soundown. Any time physical lead is involved the price reflects the value.

Agree, sound down is excellent. Their head liner also works well to reduce sound.
