Valid point. But not a huge pain, small pain. Your hand gets wet every time and you have to bend over to retrieve it. For me the advantages, clean platform top and ease of deployment from in the water, outweighed the small pain.

Me too...not an issue for my under the platform, telescoping 4 step ladder.

I’ve looked at these many times but haven’t pulled the trigger. At 7 knots, part of my platform is awash. At 8 knots, the whole platform is in the water. I wonder about the additional drag of a below-platform style of ladder.
