There are regularly rescues that indicate though that some are not. Those are the ones who need reminding.

I doubt that reminding others will result in much good. There is another forum that I frequent where guys brag about going 25-40 miles off shore in 24' boats.

I have found that boaters who stray far from the docks are pretty weather alert.

Well....at least the ones who make it back to the docks are!!

In addition to the height of the bow above water, the tide could have risen a few feet and then you have to consider a wave height of 3 or 4 feet ( a wild guess) and his actual bow height could have been twice the depth when he anchored.

How true but I don't think tide amounts to much down there. But you're right many boaters frequently pay little attention to the tides.

This man (the OP) was not one of them IMO. And even anchors that do poorly at short scope should have no problem at 5-1.

IMO an anchor never dragged from too much scope. The opposite is often true.

Too much scope can have its own problems resulting in boats bumbing in the night. I have seen anchor rodes tangled along with harsh words screamed.

I find it difficult to even get a scope of 5 when anchoring in local harbors.
