Marina collapse lake Lewisville, Tx
This is a Lake North of Dallas, Tx

"Several boats were damaged on Lake Lewisville after the roof covering several boat slips at two marinas collapsed.

The damaged boats were docked at the Pier 121 Marina, on the Lewisville side of the lake, and at the Hidden Cove Marina on the Frisco/The Colony side of the lake.

From Chopper 5, what appeared to be fuel could be seen on top of the water near the slips.

While an official cause of the failure has not been given, large pieces of heavy ice from Tuesday night's ice storm were still visible on top of the covering and on the dock.

On their Facebook page, Pier 121 Marina said they are closed until further notice due to ice and snow on the docks."

Damn shame. covered slips are great for sun protection but they sure don't like snow and ice. Our covered docks on the Delaware river collapsed about 25 years ago and several on the Chesapeake went down a couple of years ago.

And really distressing..it should be on the marina insurance and not reflected on boat insurance.
