I stayed at the casino in February, it's brand new. Marina looked OK but the weather was too bad to really check it out. Casino and hotel is very nice. Rooms are large and comfortable. Had a nice dinner at Vic and Anthonys Steak House.

Any problem getting a slip at Laberge? We plan to be there during the week.

Thanks,

Bob

Plenty of slips at Laberge. Wish I could tell you the costs. My wife handled the arrangements.

Have you checked ActiveCaptain to see if others have posted their opinions or to see what the rates are?

ActiveCaptain dot com is full of UGC (User Generated Content) and you can find info about almost every place to go boating.

AC has good info on Laberge but nothing yet on the Golden Nugget other than there was no power in January. Their website lists two sizes of slips, 24' x 30' and 48' x 50'. I assume those are for two boats.

Obthomas, just curious, how did you go, the ditch or offshore. We are in Waterford Harbor and I am planning to do the ditch with a night at Taylor going. Weather permitting I'm would like to go offshore. We used to really like night time passages on our sailboat.

Thanks,

Bob

Left Clear Lake in the morning went the ditch. Stayed the night anchored at Taylor Bayou Outfall just before Port Author. Second day Cruise to Lake Charles. Came back the same way.

125 miles / 107 gallons of diesel each way. Filled at 3 amigos and again at marina just around the corner from Laberge. 1 nautical mile per gallon.

Sounds like a plan. Bought the boat in Beaumont and came back with one night at Taylor. Have done the trip to Lake Charles both doing the ditch and going offshore with the sailboat. Sure do miss it, biggest mistake ever this power boat. So far nobody else wants it so we are hoping to use it some.

Haven't used it much, a few trips to Offatts, but hoping for 2nmpg.
