If you are ever passing through Fort Pierce, north of St. Lucie and Stuart and south of Vero Beach, make sure you overnight at the Fort Pierce Marina.

This marina is run by the city so the rates are affordable. It's recently been renovated with a slew of new floating docks and new break walls and rock made artificial islands designed to protect from hurricanes. This marina took a major hit in the last decade and the city has worked hard to make major improvements.

Overnight on a Friday night and wake up to a large market with entertainment on Saturday mornings. Plenty of fantastic restaurants are within walking distance and the marina is very pet friendly. They no longer offer cable TV and the Internet could be faster, but overall, a great place to stay.

We were there last week end with the land yatch. I agree its is a nice place to stay as the rates are low compared to other location. We are visiting many of them port marins look for places we might want to retirer. We will leave the eagle up in Seattle ans buy another boat for down here, which would be in the 30 to 40 ft, shallow draft and 15 to 20 knot range. We been 5 month without a boat, take boat tours and renting boats has taken some of the edges off

We are flying back to Seattle mid June to live on the eagle until mid October. Next winter we will narrow down the area and boat. Ft Pierce will be one of the areas.
