1985 54' Sparkman and Stephens Trawler

I have a new listing that should appeal to TF readers. Single screw, canoe stern, classic design, full displacement beauty. Asking $249,000 but with a motivated seller interested in a quick sale. This boat just recently made the journey from Jamaica through the Bahamas, and then to Florida.
Powered by a single Caterpillar naturally aspirated 3208 engine with fresh exhaust risers and the heat exchangers were recently sonically cleaned and serviced. Hours are around 4000.
Set up for anchoring out with a 200 amp remote mount alternator to charge batteries and a 2000 watt inverter, gas stove, 12 volt refrigeration and lots of natural ventilation. All lighting has been changed to LED and fluorescent, to cut power use but there is a 8KW Yanmar generator with 2170 hours to run the air conditioning that was installed in 2007.
This is a full displacement hull with bilge keels, Portuguese bridge, full side walk around decks and raised pilothouse.
Below are two staterooms with ensuite heads and stall showers and another desk area that can be used for children. Interior finish is gloss teak and almost all headliners have been replaced.

The listingis not yet on any of the internet sites yet but send an email and I will send the details. The boat was built in Easton, MD at the D. Loweree Yard but is now Cayman flag so it is not for sale to US residents while in US waters this week. I will arrange to re-import the boat as US built returned goods sometime soon.

The listing for this trawler is now active on Yacht World. Please note that the boat is not for sale to US residents in US waters at this time. The boat was built a the Donald Loweree yard in Maryland so it is US built but the owner lived an Jamaica, and it was flagged in the Cayman Islands.
We will import the boat into the US as US built returned goods with no duty due but then he can not use the boat unless he pays Florida use tax. So soon he will use the boat a bit then take care of the paperwork.
If someone wants to buy the boat now I will have the boat imported immediately.

The owner of this boat just brought the boat from Jamaica to Florida and here is his report on fuel consumption.
Over a 160 mile journey around Jamaica going at 1450 RPM with varying currents we averaged 6 knots and consumed 2 gallons per hour (3 Miles to the Gallon)
On my trip to Florida from Jamaica I checked the first leg which was 438 Miles we ran at 1660 RPM averaging 7.5 Knots and we took 180 gallons of fuel which worked out to about 2.43 Miles to the Gallon. This works out to be approximately 3 Gals per hour.
We also have to bear in mind that no generator was run during this trip as the 200Amp Alternator charged the 5 house batteries running refrigeration and on our overnight stops the Inverter did its job.

I have been following that boat for years. Donald Lowery was the owner who home built her. She is battleship strong as I understand although the cabins are a bit unconventional. I think her lines are S&S stunning! I have lusted over her for a decade.

The boat is on YachtWorld and other sites and the notice that the boat is not available to US residents while in US waters has been removed, it is available to US residents.

Too late if you are interested, a Trawler Forum reader who saw the boat on this forum has agreed to buy the boat. We had a survey and sea trial and with a minor price adjustment for survey we should close soon.
I knew that the boat would appeal to Trawler Forum readers.

I purchased the boat last year, took her to the Bahamas, then up the Atl-ICW to NYC and back down. She is a lot of fun for my family of 5, sips fuel and turns heads. I took some time off to enjoy her but I live and work on the "other coast".... She is, at the moment, on the hard in VA. I'm hoping to continue using her as time permits, seeking a partner(s) to help control cost. If anybody is interested please PM me.
