New trawler owner in NC

Just wanted to introduce myself. I recently moved to Wilmington although my boat is stored for winter up in NH. I was a liveaboard in Great Bay for a few months before I took a job down here. Put the boat on stands, packed up, and headed south in an 84' Chevy military truck.

If anyone is in the Wilmington area living or stopping in, give me a shout if you need an extra set of hands working on something. Never have to twist my arm to burn a little diesel fuel and beer.

Welcome. Yep, you are too skinny, too young, and you have the wrong anchor.

Not "wearing" a life jacket but I always carry a PFD in the dinghy. I only wear it crossing the channel or when the water gets rough. I think that is probably the most ignorant statement I've made to this day!

Youth is wasted on the young but I'm an old man trapped in a boys body. Not a bad deal if you ask me. I don't know what a "TF" is so you will have to spell out that acronym for me.

As requested, some random photos of the ol' Misfit Toy and the 84' Cuck Vee

SWEET! Thanks for the pics. Nice rides.I'm digging the layout of your boat.Is the box body on your truck military issue?

I like the layout too, only a handful of changes I want to make other than some general sprucing up with new materials. I think replacing the 'wall to wall' carpeting would be a 100% improvement. Most of my time has been mechanical/electrical repairs along with fixing above the water line leaks

The CUCV trucks came in a few different variants. Blazer, pickup, dually (holds a shelter in the bed), service box, and ambulance versions. This one came with a PTO 12k watt generator, air compressor, and 200amp stick welder. I got rid of the stick welder because it weighed too much and would never be used.

It climbed Mt. Washington

12k watts is slightly overkill to brew a cup of coffee

Nice rides! Glad to see your not wasting your youth doing something stupid like working indoors all day. You've got the right idea. I expect we'll be seeing you in a bigger yacht and fancier rides pretty soon, as there's lots of cougars and trust fund babes lurking in all those waterfront condos surrounding marinas. A young guy with skills and toys with time on their hands is always in demand. Just know how to make a good Martini and take your vitamins and your set! Just buy a really nice watch-that's the shiny bait they're attracted to, that reels them into the boat. They might need reading glasses to see across the table, but they can spot a nice watch (and tell you it's current value) from 100' away! lol Just be aware-you might think your the hunter, when it's really you being hunted. :>)

From one transplant (and newcomer to this forum) to another, welcome down!

Don't suppose you're also on Steel Soldiers as well?

All good shananigans end with a photo opportunity. I will be sure to post any up since I have no shame.

I couldn't mix a Martini if I tried. You see my galley is burgers and Sam Adams...I'm a good ol' boy. I do like the watch idea. I will have to get a shiny watch and do some land trawling...again, I'll post up any results

I'm on the Steel Soldiers site as well. Do you own a military vehicle?

Greetings,
Mr. S. Anybody that uses the word shenanigans is OK in my book. By the way, TF are the last two initials of my name. R being the first as opposed to the 18th as in the alphabet.
