Am currently looking at Albin 28 TE's, and need some advice as to the engine box vs. the flush deck engine installation. I am concerned as to the ability to access the flush deck installation for engine maintenance.

Would greatly appreciate any guidance in this matter.

Welcome, and good luck in your quest. I personally have no advice on this one.

Greetings,
Welcome aboard. Engine access is important. You will have to decide whether or not the service advantages of the "box" will outweigh the deck space it takes up. Additional deck seating? Personally I would go with the easier access. That ONE time you have to change/service that "????", possibly under adverse conditions, will probably make up for those extra steps to go around it.

In addition to access, I would be concerned that a flush deck would not give enough room for the exhaust riser to be 12" above the water line. If it isn't then sea water can back up into the turbo.

See the attached pic.
