Made the leap to a trawler

Hello,

We made the switch to a trawler late last year after many years as sailboaters - and we are thrilled. Such a nice change.

This is our 6th boat, and we spent the winter doing extensive upgrades - new stove, fridge, completely rewired, new electronics, new hot water tank, some engine work, new dinghy, new lighting, new cushions and soft goods, well... you name it.

This winter she gets a battery bank upgrade, an autopilot, new countertops and a second fridge/freezer.

The boat was owned by a tugboat captain for most of her life and I'm thrilled with how well she has been taken care of.

Anyways, I just thought I would share.

-- Cheers

Impressive boat. You didn't mention, but it seems you've had most of your experience on the "LIGHT" side. Welcome to the dark, and it sure looks like you're doing it right. Glad to have you aboard TF.

All of my previous experience has been sail although we were boatless one summer and did have the use of a friends trawler which got us hooked. I blame him.

Yeh, sure, blame him. If the truth were known, every time you were passed by a trawlerman, snug in his pilot house with a hot cup of coffee & his feet up on the instrument panel, you, huddled under a dodger with hardly any protection from the elements, lusted for a trawler. Well, you've finally arrived & welcome to the "new light side." Seriously...very nice looking boat!

Welcome to TF, and that's a very nice looking boat. I'd like to see some interior pics when you have some time, and some pics of you using it.

Welcome Aboard

You are in one of the most beautiful cruising grounds for a trawler there is.

She looks very pretty. Welcome aboard!

We just made the same leap you did a year and a half ago. Haven't looked back once. Hopefully you'll be like us and enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks guys, we're sure enjoying her. I'll have to dig up some more photos but here's a selection.

1. First is a bad photo of the new electrical panel(it got rotated on upload -weird)
2. Second is a photo of the new instrument cluster for the Lehman.
3. Third is a picture of us underway in low visibility a few weeks ago - we do a 'guys' weekend away annually in the fall, so I have all my buddies aboard while the wives go to a spa.

Cheers.

I couldn't agree more, I have been cruising this coast since I was an infant and I never get tired of it.

I put that on for the winter, keeps things clean. We usually don't keep it on when we are out, but I was lazy.

This winter we are putting stainless rails around the aft cabin trunk so I'm not sure what we will do with the canvas.
