Switch from sailing

Hi, sold my 36' sailboat last year after having several sailboats for 40 years.

My son has us join him on his new Formula 45 last week in NY, Long Island to Nantucket etc.

He was cruising at 30 knots, the fillings in your cavities can fall out.....

I took the wheel and did an easy 18, a bit better.

Fuel for trip about $1,000, docking like $250-300 a nite, it was great to be on the water again.

But not like that, hard to think he grew up on a sailboat.

So we're on the hunt for used 36 or so trawler.

read a bunch on single vs twin, I'm very hands on, so to do maintenance on either is no issue.

the question now is budget, brands, year built?

I live in FL so should be within reasonable distance to search.

What would you suggest for say $50K then $100K

It appears Grand Banks & Mainship are taking the market share.

tks

funny how people think you must have a trawler to go slow. My 44' ACMY would do 23 kts and also gave trawler economy at slow speeds. Don't limit your self to a specific type until you have explored the options.

Greetings,
Welcome aboard. To add to Mr. b's comment...Forget about brands and years as well. To sort of borrow a phrase from real estate...Condition, condition, condition.

This is on our dock. I have not been on it but for an asking price of $68,500 it looks like a pretty good deal. Good luck on your search.
