Fond memories ahead...

Greetings to all who love boating and love the sea! I so appreciate a web site where all can contribute ... and where all can learn.

Even though our backgrounds and life experiences differ, I feel that each of you knows SOMETHING that I can learn from. I look forward to getting acquainted with you here, and hopefully somewhere on the water. My nautical background is not so vast as many who post here (therefore my ears will be attuned to many conversations).

My boating experience began some 59 years ago, driving Dad's 55 Chevy Wagon while towing a 14' Aluminum fishing boat with an 20 hp Elgin outboard motor to Buckeye Lake in Ohio. Fours years later I would be at the helm of a 425' 6" Nuclear Powered Polaris Missle Submarine.

During subsequent years, I owned various small fishing boats, pontoon boats, and a twin inboard Carver Voyager.

My lifelong dream is to one day live aboard a nice trawler or boat with a cockpit. I'd love to cruise the rivers, perhaps close islands, do the Great Loop, or cruise the American/Canadian San Juan Islands. 😇

Meanwhile, as I search for just the right vessel... (1or 2 staterooms, dry head w/dedicated shower, nice cockpit, good electronics, Europa styling, walk in engine room, stairs rather than ladders-- if needed, and fuel efficient) ... I'll just eavesdrop and listen while those who know more that I, expound on the 10,000 topics that I need to learn!!!

Happy cruising!
Roger

Thanks Ted. I know she's out there waiting for me to discover her. And believe me, I'm diligently searching for her!!! It's become my almost daily mission.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment. However, I have MUCH to learn. I agree that The Lord has blessed me with a certain amount of "wisdom". However, concerning my "nautical experience", most is either on smaller boats ... or ... "Nuclear Submarines" or "Naval Destroyers". Little of that is of much use in my quest for a cruising/liveaboard desires. So, in addition to the fellowship ... I'm here to learn from you and all the others.

Humor ...

Concerning "Naval Destroyers" ...
Someone once told me that a "Naval Destroyer" is a "hula hoop" with a nail in it. Seems to be accurate. LOL
