There is a fellow on Twitter that uses Photoshop to insert rescue equipment into famous paintings. It started as a way to teach his son to use Photoshop.

Another request from @mcelhearn. Got out of date distress flares? Some HM Coastguard stations have facilities dispose of them, but you may need to make an appointment, so contact them before you turn up with a truckload of unstable explosives.

Parks, about every 3 years or so our club hosts a Flare Demo Day where we encourage people to come shoot off their expired flares. We notify the USCG station, police and fire and anyone else someone can thing of. We also put out some flyers at the local boat dealers to let people know about it. Last but not least we asked the local fire station to have an ambulance on standby and they sent one..

We hold it on an area next to the Columbia River, set up a couple of 6' tables to put stuff on, have a bucket of water handy then have a ball. The first time we did it we got flares of every kind. We had about 50 people attend and shot off about 250 flares.

In terms of the comments we got from people it was a stunning success.

PS, how's your son doing with Photoshop. That one looks pretty good.

Hi Mike, I didn’t do the image. It was a guy in England named Andy Doe. He’s got one with a Coast Guard helicopter flying over George Washington crossing the Delaware. These are all famous paintings into which he has stuck rescue equipment. It’s strange and funny.
