As we all run around and worry about deck chairs and diesel prices and who will be coming on our boats, don't lose the holiday.

Thanks those we can and remember those can’t.

Be well and safe.

Amen. From our house to yours, let us not forget.

Read a discouraging poll in today's paper - 55% of those polled know it's a holiday but don't know why. Never forget.

Thanks to those we can......

That's Veterans Day. I appreciate giving thanks to those who served in the Armed Services, but that is not what Memorial Day is for.

Allow me to re-phrase. Giving thanks to those who have served and RETURNED is not what Memorial Day is for.

On Memorial Day our yacht club sets up the "Missing Man Table" in the main dining room:
"This table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms. The tablecloth is white-symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to duty. The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing, and the loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The glass is inverted-to share this evening's toast. The chair is empty- they are the missing."

This is what it’s about.

If you know a living vet, thank them.

Often.
