I do regret not going aboard Doug's Atlantic 30. I have so may great memories from my Prairie 29. It would have been nice to get aboard to reminisce. He had crew on board and I didn't want them to have to muster about to accommodate us. What a great boat and good to meet you Doug.

This is the Regatta restaurant in Lake Arthur. Very nice place out over the water. I tried the duck and andouille sausage gumbo and it was ok. Wendy had. The shrimp gumbo and it was much better. I think the gaminess of the duck overpowered the roux. Anyway, the ambiance of being out over the water is worth it alone. And a buy one get one free happy hour!!!

We were headed West bound from Lake Arthur to Lake Charles. Listening to the tows talking to each other it sounded like we were gonna slip right through the locks without having to lock through. No such luck. We get up there and we have to lock through. Lil mama handling my balls!!! In the end, we didn't even have to tie up...just loitered in the lock so no balls necessary.

We turned up the Calcasieu River and headed for L'auberge du Lac Casino. I am not a gambler but I do like nice pools. And they do have a nice pool with VERY attentive wait staff and VERY attractive at that. I honestly do not know where one could get better service by prettier girls....but of course...I paid dearly for it. All in good fun on vacation and lil mama was happy. The docking facilities here are good and usually empty. I honestly do not know what they charge and I have not checked my credit card but I think it is either free or $50. I will check to confirm. All in all, a very nice facility and worth the trip. Just be careful if you are on a budget.

I don't really have any pics from Thursday and Friday which were the nasty days. Saturday dawned calm and sunny. And finally everyone was in the spirit of the event. The morning mimosas ended up on Brent's boat. Not sure how many we had on there but it was at least 20!!! Everyone smiling and laughing and having a good time!!!!

This was me and beautiful Wendy making the infamous roofyritas during the dock crawl poker run. They were definitely a hit as people kept coming back.

We left the next day, Sunday, a day early due to me having to work. When we turned out of the Sabine River and into the ICW this is what we had to deal with...due to all the rain in SE Texas. I. Had to run at dead idle and when I would hit a clear patch, back down hard in case anything was getting tangled up in the running gear. There was also all kinds of trash and debris tangled up in there so I had Wendy on the bow picking our way though. Everything worked out just fine and no worse for the wear.

This is Wendy and I. We did not want the trip to end. Also, the pool in our marina is under construction so we stopped at the neighboring marina to cool off on a very nice sunny day. And we were treated to a VERY good duo of live music!!!

Dammit!!! The dreaded upside down pic!!!! Anyway, that is all I got!!!

And on a more somber note....please say a little prayer for everyone in the Houston area. We are getting hammered down here and most of the rivers and creeks are WELL above flood stage...many at historic levels...and heavy rain in the forecast all thru the weekend. My area of town should be fine. But the big rivers, the Brazos mainly, are flooding like crazy!!! Check the radar as I type...not good!!!
