How much anchor chain?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I added 100 feet of yellow poly to the end of my anchor chain..in a real emergency cutaway...and no time to add a buoy...it may help when looking to pick it up at a later time.

Hope I don't run over it. That would be a quick stop.

no worse than the crab and ghost crab floats all over the place...plus as soon as possible I'd be back for it...the whole idea of the floating line.

All chain rode and a 45 lb CQR + happy hour watching land marks that do not move = sound nights sleep.

I'm with you hi d ho. I have a pair do 63 lb. CQR anchors and all chain. I want to sleep well too.

I sleep well w practically no chain and an 19lb anchor.

Just say'in.

But I like the fact that you guys are not in need of the latest "save the world" product.

The question was,

>Part of the dilemma revolves around how much chain I need in a worse case scenario storm maybe in the Caribbean.<

And my answer is 3/8 chain would be useless in most hurricanes.

Hurricane gear is special, and specific to the loads involved , not just longer O nite gear.

154lb Rocna, with 300ft of 3/8's chain. Yeah I guess you could say we sleep well!:)

All of your anchors are too small, the wrong kind and you don't have enough chain.

Now let's talk about guns!:D
