Adding more chain to existing chain

Is there a good way to do this and it still work with the windlass ,or is this a :nonono:?
 
Sorry I didn't see the other thread about bad chain link.
 
There are >repair links< that will fit the chain and windlass.

Some folks fear them , some dont.

Buy a US made one.
 
Last time I looked into it, the only way to get lasting 100% strength is to have the replacement link welded shut.

Unless you have a great marine welder and have the welded link hot dipped...I wouldn't trust it any more than a high quality replacement link for longevity (maybe even short term for that matter).
