Shortly before its scheduled departure the Melbourne-Devonport ferry, which crosses Bass Strait between the island state Tasmania to Melbourne on the mainland broke its mooring lines in strong winds, and sustained damage putting it out of service for the foreseeable future.The significant weather change responsible is working its way north, 38/42C here today, it can`t arrive soon enough
