My twin helm boat with a single cat diesel has a functioning tachometer on the fly bridge and a non-functioning one in the cabin. I replaced the cabin tach yesterday and had no success in fixing the problem.
This is an older boat with wires going everywhere ( I cannot tell which wire is which, once it hits the bundle of wires under the cabin deck) , so my question is this. Can I take the lead off of the flybridge sending a new wire down to my cabin tach or do I need to get it off of the alternator in a separate wire?
If anyone has other suggestions please feel free to let me know.
