Anchor Light Short

I have a short in the wiring to the anchor light on my 2005 Mainship 400. If I turn on the nav lights, they work fine. If I try to switch on the anchor light, the circuit breaker blows immediately. Removing the anchor light bulb does not change the behavior. I've tried unsuccessfully to determine where the short is, but the wiring diagram in the owner manual is incomplete and inaccurate. The complication arises from that fact that there are switches for the anchor light at the upper and lower helm. Wires run between the helms and back to the anchor light. Some wires are shared by the nav light. Because of the parallel, distributed network of unmarked wires, I have not been able to isolate the problem. Any ideas?
