info on Raymarine ST 8001 - -help

need info on the Raymarine st 8001 autopilot---are they any good? What are some of the problems noted for this unit? Thanks-Captain Ray

Well my I believe Autohelm 4001 unit works well for being a '98 unit. Recently the numbers on the readout have become very difficult to read but it does not affect it's usability.

You need to see what model course computer it is tied to. The 8001 is a control head for an autopilot. The course computer should be an SPX 10 or something similar.

Raymarine makes very good autopilots, chartplotters, radars and marine instruments.

Their web site has data sheets, installation and operating instructions for most of their products.
