Does anyone know who can fix a fly bridge control with buttons that do not routinely work well? Everything else is fine but the buttons for correction are not working well.

In my experience when pushbutton switches stop working, they are toast. There are two ways to fix them:


If you are really handy with a soldering iron, find replacement buttons and unsolder the old and solder in the new. Those switches are probably soldered onto the circuit board.


Or, find a replacement control head on eBay or similar. But you may be buying another problem.

Look for Howard Rock on Outer Banks, maybe Nags Head.
Huge inventory of used electronics when I was last there.
If no bueno, Howard will point you in the right direction, he is a good guy.

If the pad is membrane covered then very likely the P.B. switches are called
Tactile switches or Tac for short.
Many different sizes so you will need to open it up to see.

I've gotten them from Newark Electronics but if you have a local , good electronics shop or parts supply nearby they should be able to help.

I followed up with Howard Rock/Marine Electronics of the Outer Banks. They said they can break the seal, repair the buttons and re-seal; about two hours labor and they are a Simrad dealer so he should know what he was talking about. Will post follow up after I send it off and get it returned and re-installed.
