Round instrument replacements

I've got two old round instruments on the fly bridge that are totally worthless.* It's a bad picture but they are right above the gear shift and the throttles.* Anyway, has anyone done anything interesting when replacing them?* It looks like there is a 3 or 4" cut out that they are sitting in.

Eric, I have the same set up. They arent complicated instruments. The hour meter gears fail due to the grease on a urethane gear softenong the teeth.
