I'm looking for a proper red lamp to use in the pilot house for night operations. Must be dimmable. I am unfamiliar with manufacturers. Any suggestions?

Bligh,

The Weems & Plath Chartlight is my favorite, but is expensive.

This time around I chose this Hella model. It is available in red and is dimmable.

I'm sure either would meet your needs.

The Hatt came with the W&P light linked above and it is really nice, very "shippy" and versatile with the spot/flood function.

Here is another more economical alternative, just add dimmer if you like (second link)

LED Dual Color Chart and Map Light
LED Dimmers 12V 24V
George I have been using the dual color LED chart lights in your link above they have been perfect and have not required dimming. I have a total of 6 in my Mainship. I'll be installing 4 in the Gulfstar.

The WP or similar models from aircraft shops is a delight.

It can be removed from it holder to use as a flashlight , and if left on the chart it does not roll about.

The bulbs are pricy tho.
