Nobeltec VNS - Caution Windows 8.1

For those who use Nobeltec's VNS with a dongle be aware that the dongle, thus VNS, will not operate using Windows 8.1 (and some versions of Windows 8).

The dongle does not have a driver which works with Windows 8.1 and neither Nobeltec nor the dongle's manufacture have any intention of supplying one.

I found this out when my Windows Vista computer died and I tried to replace it with a new computer. Fortunately I was able to subsequently buy a refurbished Windows 7 computer and all is well. Otherwise it would have been an expensive upgrade to Nobeltec's new platform.

I was looking at laptops on the HP website last weekend and found they are still selling plenty of new laptops with Windows 7. Some didn't even have the option of Windows 8 or 8.1.
