NMEA2000 sensors /cables that are not Maretron?

I have NMEA2000 backbone and am looking for a temperature sensor for my engine exhaust and a fire alarm/smoke sensor for the engine room. I will need some cabling T’s and drop cables.
I have heard some concerns about the plastic used in the Garmin connectors.
Any recommendations?
