Our adventure to convert the boat to LED, the next thing is the spreaders on the boat deck, and flybridge pointing spreader. After shooting an email to James Hamilton who owns an N52 that changed his to LED, I got some links and going ahead. The smaller one will be used for the flybridge facing light and well have two of the big ones for the boat deck. I'm also going to put a another small LED next to the hailer right above the FWD PH windows. And also here's an pic of the boat as setup currently. Note: this was before we replaced the halogens with LED's inside the boat. Also some photo of James' setup, mine will be the same exact setup, minus the side facing ones.

U got all of my replacement led bulbs on Amazon.
Whatever base I needed, I found there, from the E30 base that looks like 120v, but isn't, to the H3 halogen spreader lights, to all my er (cool white) & living spaces (warn white) and lastly a bunch of strip lighting.

Even my 30 year old vdo instrument lights, now in a cool green.

Very nice, Oliver. What are the specs on those lamps? (lumens, power, etc.)

I installed aft-facing 400 lumen LED speaders and love 'em. They're not as bright as yours, but they sure illuminate the field of water behind the boat well for night fishing. The beam is wide enough that the fishing rod tips are in the beam and the scattered light evenly illuminates the cockpit.

When it's foggy and I'm the lone boat at anchor, I leave them on all the time with minimal effect on the batteries. They give me added peace of mind that others will see me in the fog.

The first pic shows the new LED spreaders. The second pic is the former single incandescent or halogen flood.

The little 10 watt ones arrived too. They are smaller then I expected, but none the less bright. Very happy.

These 12W lights look cool. Would sure like to see their performance in the real boating world.

Mark,

The Amazon links are in the posts. Click the links and paste the name/model number into an eBay search box.

I bought the Optronics LED docking lights on a shopping whim while trolling through Bass Pro Shop in 2010. I didn't do any research and would probably buy different lamps if I was shopping today. The do the trick well and I like the lighting and low draw, but others buyers have had problems with leaking fixtures and resultant failures. I keep my boat in a covered slip and have had no issues out in the rain, but I'm keeping an eye on them.
